MORE THAN A CHAIR

I’m putting together something special for a 15-year-old named Taylor and his family, and I’d love your help.

This isn’t primarily a request for money. More than anything,

I’m hoping to collect words.

Taylor has been living through an extraordinarily difficult chapter. He has spent the last two years living with a rare and aggressive cancer.

Right now, his family is focused on making his days as comfortable, meaningful, and full of connection as possible.

I want to create something he can physically hold onto;

a collection of notes, stories, encouragement, humor, commiseration, art, and reminders that he is seen, thought about, and cared for.

You do not have to know Taylor or his family personally to contribute.

Please send contributions by Sunday, November 15.

What Can You Send?

〰️

What Can You Send? 〰️

  • Anything that feels human:

  • A few words of encouragement

  • A story about getting through something hard

  • Something funny

  • A song, movie, game, or book recommendation

  • A piece of wisdom

  • Something you wish someone had told you at 15

  • A drawing, poem, photograph, or piece of art

  • Something handmade

  • Or simply: hello

I’ll compile the written submissions into one collection for Taylor to read and keep.

If you’d like to send something handmade or personal, you can also use the form below to coordinate with me directly.

  • Want to contribute financially?

There is a GoFundMe for anyone who would like to help us add comfort, personality, and a few special touches to Taylor’s room and gaming space.

Financial contributions are deeply appreciated, but they are not the primary way to participate.

Your words, creativity, time, and care matter just as much.

The hope is simple. A lot of small gestures, gathered together, can become something much bigger. Something that says to one person and his family:

We see you.
We’re thinking of you
.
You’re not doing this alone
.

Timing matters.

Please send contributions by Sunday, Nov15.

I’d like to gather everything and get it into Taylor’s hands as soon as possible.

  • SHARE YOUR NOTE / STORY / MESSAGE FOR TAYLOR:

Thank you for taking the time to look, read, and care.

I keep thinking about how much of what makes another person feel seen is already available to us for free - - - our attention, our words, our creativity, our stories - - - our intention.

If this becomes something special for Taylor and his family, it will be because a lot of people chose to offer a little of what they already had.

Thank you for adding yours.

With gratitude,

Max
